Most Bihar government jobs come through five bodies. Use this table to find the right one, then open only that website for the notice, the form link and the admit card.

Other state units, like JEEViKA (Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society), district courts and municipal bodies, also hire through their own notices. Never pay a so called Bihar job portal or an agent who promises a seat.
BSSC exams: matric, inter level and graduate level (CGL)
BSSC full form is Bihar Staff Selection Commission. People also call it Bihar SSC. It groups posts by the minimum qualification:
- Matric level: office attendant (karyalay parichari) and similar posts that need 10th pass.
- Inter level: lower division clerk, revenue and field posts and many department assistants that need 12th pass. Some posts add a typing or skill test.
- Graduate level (BSSC CGL): assistant branch officer, planning assistant, auditor and similar posts that need a degree.
- Stenographer and special exams: posts with a shorthand or typing test, announced separately.
Some BSSC exams have had a preliminary test that only screens followed by a main written exam, while others are held in a single written stage; some posts add a skill test, and document verification comes last, as per the notice. Each advertisement number (like 01/xx) is a separate recruitment, so read the one you are applying for. Exam pattern details are on our syllabus page.
How BSSC and Bihar SSC exam dates are announced
The most common question is "BSSC ka exam kab hoga". There is no fixed calendar. The commission puts an exam date notice on its notice board page, often a few weeks before the exam, and the admit card follows shortly before the exam day. Dates for big exams have been shifted in the past, so a date seen in a video or forwarded image is not final until it is on bssc.bihar.gov.in.
For BSSC online forms the window is usually a few weeks long, with a short correction window after it. Check your registration slip, then watch the notice board for the admit card. The download steps are explained on the admit card page, and model answers and objection rules on the answer key page.
BPSC: civil services, teacher recruitment and OTR
BPSC recruits officers through the combined competitive exam (prelims, mains and interview) and many single post exams for doctors, engineers, lecturers and auditors. It also runs the large school teacher recruitment exams (TRE) for classes 1 to 12, which need a valid teacher eligibility test where the notice says so. Before any BPSC form you now complete a one time registration, called OTR, through the BPSC online portal, reached through the Online Application link on bpsc.bihar.gov.in. You create a login, fill your profile (name, date of birth and matric details exactly as on your certificate) and upload photo and signature, following the steps and verification the portal asks for. After that, each new exam only needs a short application. Note that some profile fields cannot be changed later, so fill them slowly.
Police jobs: CSBC constable and BPSSC daroga
CSBC (Kendriya Chayan Parshad, Sipahi Bharti) runs Bihar Police constable recruitment. The usual stages are a written test that is qualifying, then a physical efficiency test (running, high jump, shot put) and physical measurement, with the final merit in recent recruitments made on physical test marks, then document and medical checks. Inter pass is the usual qualification for sipahi.
BPSSC handles the daroga (sub inspector) level. It normally holds a preliminary exam, a main exam, then a physical test and measurement. A degree is the usual qualification. Physical standards such as height, chest and run time are not the same for men, women and some reserved groups. Copy them only from the current notice. BTSC for engineers, nurses and health posts
BTSC full form is Bihar Technical Service Commission. It fills technical posts for state departments: BTSC JE (junior engineer in civil, mechanical and electrical), staff nurse (GNM or B.Sc nursing), general medical officer, pharmacist, lab technician, OT assistant and similar. Some BTSC recruitments are decided by a written exam, while others have used a merit list built from qualifying marks and government service experience. The advertisement tells you which method applies.
The BTSC official website is btsc.bihar.gov.in. Its results normally arrive as a PDF list, followed by a counselling or document verification schedule. Keep your registration with the Bihar nursing or pharmacy council, if your post needs it, valid on the day of verification.
Domicile, reservation and age in Bihar jobs
Most posts accept any Indian citizen with the right qualification. Reservation for EBC, BC, SC, ST and EWS is generally given only to permanent residents of Bihar with certificates issued by the Bihar government. Applicants from outside the state normally compete as general (unreserved). Bihar also reserves a share of posts for women, and recent rules give that women's reservation only to women domiciled in Bihar, as per the notice.
Keep your caste, income (non creamy layer where needed), residence and EWS certificates in your own name and within the validity the notice asks for. How to apply for a Bihar government job without mistakes
- Find the body in the table above and open its official website yourself, not through a forwarded link.
- Download the full advertisement PDF and check post wise qualification, age cut off date and reserved seats.
- Sign up using a phone number and an email ID you check often and will not change. For BPSC, finish the OTR first.
- Copy your own name, your father's name and your birth date letter by letter from the matric certificate.
- Upload a fresh photo and your signature within the pixel and KB limits given. Some forms want the signature in Hindi and English.
- Pay the fee online and wait for the payment to show as successful in your login.
- Keep a PDF of the submitted form and the fee receipt on your phone and in your email.
Documents to keep ready: matric and inter certificates and marksheets, degree or diploma, caste, residence and EWS certificates, Aadhaar, a recent photo, and experience letters if the post gives weightage for experience. Common reasons Bihar forms get rejected: a caste certificate issued by another state, a certificate dated after the closing date, a blurred signature, a wrong category chosen to save fee, and applying twice for the same advertisement.
