Sarkari result UP board: how board results are announced
Most boards follow a similar pattern. After the exams, answer sheets are evaluated at marking centres. Many state boards then announce the result date in advance and release pass percentages, often with topper names, at a press meeting before the link goes live. Practices differ: CBSE, for example, usually puts results online without announcing a date far ahead and does not name toppers. The result link goes live on the official website on result day.
On result day, heavy traffic slows the websites. Try again after some time instead of opening unknown links. Shared screenshots and forwarded links are not results; only the board page is.
A small note on names: UP Board is the popular name for the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh, also called Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP). That is the full form people look for. In Bihar, BSEB runs matric and inter exams, and also teacher eligibility tests such as the Bihar STET. The BSEB STET result is shared on the board's own portals, not anywhere else.

How to check your result by roll number
- Keep your admit card in hand. It has your roll number and, for Bihar board, the roll code as well.
- Open the board's official website from the table above.
- Click the link for your class and stream, such as High School, Intermediate, Matric, Inter Arts, Science or Commerce.
- Type the roll number (and roll code, school code or date of birth, if asked) and the captcha.
- Check your name, father's and mother's name, date of birth and every subject mark.
- Save the page as PDF or take a clear screenshot.

Mark sheet, certificate and DigiLocker
The online result is marked provisional. The original mark sheet cum certificate is sent to schools a few weeks later, and you collect it from there. Private candidates collect it from the centre or office named by the board.

- CBSE issues digital mark sheets and certificates through DigiLocker as well.
- Check every detail. A wrong spelling or date of birth on the original certificate must be corrected through your school and board office as early as possible. Later, a government job form will be judged against this certificate.
Scrutiny, re-evaluation and compartment exams
Scrutiny
If you think marks were added wrongly or an answer was left unchecked, apply for scrutiny (punah jaanch) soon after the result. The window is short, usually a couple of weeks, and a fee per subject applies. Most boards recheck totals and unmarked answers; full re-evaluation is not offered by every board. Revised marks, if any, are published on the same website.
Compartment or supplementary exam
A student who fails in one or two subjects can usually sit a compartment exam within a few months instead of repeating the year. Some boards also let a passed student improve marks in one subject. Rules on how many subjects are allowed differ by board, so read the notice. Bihar board runs a special and compartment exam for matric and inter, and UP Board runs a compartment cum improvement exam.
Do not pay anyone who promises to raise your marks. Only the board can change a result, and only through its own scrutiny process.
How board marks matter for government jobs
- Date of birth proof: the 10th certificate is the standard proof of age in almost every recruitment. The date of birth you enter in any form must match it exactly.

- Name and parent names: these must match across your board certificate, caste certificate and job application.
Common result problems and what to do
- Result shows withheld: usually a pending document, fee or unfair means case. Contact your school or the regional board office.
- Absent marked though you appeared: report it through your school immediately with your admit card copy.
- Website not opening: try later, or use the second official result site in the table.
- Fake result links: avoid any page asking for payment or extra personal details to show a result.
