RRB and RRC: who does what

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) fill Group C posts and, in recent rounds, Level 1 posts (the old Group D) as well. There are 21 RRBs, each linked to a region. They publish a Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) together, run one common CBT across the country, and then each RRB makes its own merit list for the zones and units it serves.

Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) sit in each zonal railway. Today you mostly see them for Act Apprentice training seats, sports quota and some scouts and guides posts. Older Group D rounds were run by RRCs, which is why you still find RRC Group D answer keys and results from past years on their sites.

Posts in RPF (Railway Protection Force) at the rank of constable or SI are also filled through a CEN, with the CBT conducted by the RRBs. Details for RPF are on rpf.indianrailways.gov.in.

Understanding the rrb ntpc sarkari result, stage by stage

NTPC means Non Technical Popular Categories. Graduate and undergraduate posts now come in separate CENs, so the ntpc undergraduate result and the graduate result are declared separately. CBT 1 is a screening test with mathematics, reasoning and general awareness. Its marks only decide who goes to CBT 2. CBT 2 marks build the merit. Group D (Level 1): CBT, PET and the answer key

For the rrb group d sarkari result, the steps are: one CBT of 100 questions in 90 minutes, then a Physical Efficiency Test for those shortlisted, then document verification and medical. The PET has a weight carrying test and a run, with separate standards for men and women. It is only qualifying, so good CBT marks cannot save you if you fail the run. CEN numbers and how to pick your RRB

Every railway notice has a CEN number like "CEN 03/xx". The first part is the serial number of the notice in that cycle, and the second part is the year. When you search for a result or admit card, always add the CEN number. Group D, NTPC and ALP results from different rounds look alike, and many people download the wrong PDF.

You can apply to only one RRB under a CEN. Duplicate forms can be cancelled. How to choose:

• Check the vacancy table of each RRB in the notice. A zone wise vacancy count for NTPC or Group D is given there, by post and category.
• Your posting will be in the zones that RRB serves, so think about where you want to live for years.
• Language: the CBT is offered in many languages, chosen at the form stage.

After the result: DV, medical and joining

A railway sarkari job is final only after document verification (DV) and the medical exam. At DV you show original certificates, a caste certificate in the central government format, and photo ID. The medical is done at a railway hospital and checks eyesight and fitness for your post. If you fail the medical for one post, you may be considered for another post with a lower standard, if you opted for it.

The final panel is sent to the zonal railway, which issues the offer of appointment and training order. This can take months.
