Age calculatorCentral and stateUpdated 21 Oct 2026

Use the age calculator on this page to check your exact age on the date a notice asks for. Further down you will find the latest recruitment notices posted on this site, each linked to its official notice.

Who recruits for which sarkari naukri

Every government post is filled by a named recruiting body. If you know the body, you know where to look for the notice, the admit card and the final result. The table lists the main national bodies. State bodies are covered on each state page.

Bank jobs work a little differently. IBPS runs common exams for clerks and officers in public sector banks and regional rural banks, while SBI and RBI hold their own recruitment; their websites do not end in .gov.in, so type the address carefully and reach it from the notice. Public sector companies (PSUs) such as power, oil and steel firms recruit through their own careers pages, often using GATE scores for engineers.

Sectors at a glance

  • SSC: office and field posts across central ministries, plus constables for the armed police forces. Explained in the exam guide.
  • Railways: the largest single employer, with posts from track maintainer to station master. See railway jobs.
  • Banks: clerk, officer and specialist posts, selected mainly through online exams.
  • Defence: Agniveer entries for 10th and 12th pass, officer entries through UPSC and service boards. See defence jobs.
  • Police: constable and sub-inspector posts are filled by each state's police board. See police jobs.

  • State commissions: state civil services, clerks, patwari, gram sevak and many department posts.
  • PSUs and autonomous bodies: technicians, engineers, officers, often with apprenticeship routes for ITI holders.

Age limits and the central relaxation table

Each notice gives a minimum and maximum age and the date for counting age. Reserved categories get extra years above the maximum. For central government posts the usual relaxation is shown below. State governments set their own rules, which often apply only to candidates who belong to that state.

Usual upper age relaxation for central government posts
CategoryExtra years
General (UR)None
EWSNone
OBC (non-creamy layer)3
SC and ST5
PwBD, General or EWS10
PwBD, OBC13
PwBD, SC or ST15
Ex-servicemenMilitary service deducted from actual age, plus a few years as set by the rules and the notice (often 3 years for Group C posts)

Other groups, such as central government employees, widows or divorced women, and some sports or domicile cases, may get relaxation in particular notices. Uniformed posts like Agniveer have their own fixed age bands. Always confirm in the notice. The age calculator at the top of this page counts your exact age in years, months and days and adds the usual relaxation for your category.

Apply online for a sarkari job without mistakes

Most forms are rejected for small, avoidable errors. Follow this order every time:

  1. Download the notice PDF from the official website and read eligibility, age date and fee table.
  2. Complete one time registration if the body uses it (SSC and many state boards do). Use your own mobile number and email, never a cafe owner's.
  3. Scan a recent photo and your signature in the size and format the notice asks for.
  4. Fill your name, father's name and date of birth exactly as on your 10th certificate.
  5. Choose category, PwBD and ex-serviceman status only if you hold a valid certificate in the format the notice asks for.
  6. Pay the fee only through the payment page of the official website and note the transaction number.
  7. Download and print the final submitted form. A form saved as a draft is not submitted.

Common reasons for rejection: wrong category certificate, photo without date or face unclear, signature in capital letters where not allowed, fee not paid before the fee deadline, qualification result declared after the cut off date, and two forms for the same post.

Offline vacancy forms and documents to keep ready

A few posts, often in district offices, courts, cantonment boards and some autonomous bodies, still ask for an offline vacancy form sent by post. For these, use the form format printed in the notice, attach self-attested copies, write the post name on the envelope as instructed, and send it by registered or speed post well before the last date. Keep the postal receipt.

Whether you apply online or offline, keep this folder ready on paper and as scans on your phone:

  • 10th certificate (date of birth proof) and all marksheets
  • 12th, ITI, diploma or degree certificates
  • Caste, EWS or domicile certificate in the current valid format
  • PwBD or ex-serviceman certificate if claimed
  • Aadhaar or another photo ID, and several passport photos
  • A clean biodata, which you can make with the resume maker

From result to joining

A sarkari naukri result is not the end. After the written stage you may face physical tests, skill or typing tests, an interview, document verification and a medical exam. A bharti result list usually names the candidates called for the next stage, and only the final merit list decides selection. Many bodies also publish rojgar results as roll number PDFs, so keep your roll number and registration details safe. Treat any sarkari result rojgar update you see forwarded on social media as a hint only, and confirm it on the official website. Joining letters come from the department where you are posted, not from the recruiting commission, and never through an agent.

If your name is not on the list, download your scorecard and compare it with the category cut off. That number tells you how far you are from selection and helps you plan for the next sarkari rojgar notice. You can also check each state page, for example Bihar, UP and Rajasthan, for state commission results.

Questions people ask

How do I find a sarkari job that matches my qualification?

Start from the qualification table on this page, then open the matching qualification page (ITI, 12th or 10th pass). Each notice lists the essential qualification, so you can rule posts in or out quickly. Your state page adds state level posts.

What is the age limit for a sarkari naukri?

It depends on the post. Many central posts start at 18 and end between 25 and 32 for General candidates, with extra years for reserved categories. Police and defence posts have their own limits. Use the age calculator on this page with the dates from your notice.

Is a sarkari job result published on the commission website only?

Yes, the official result comes from the body that ran the recruitment, on its own website and sometimes in Employment News. This site lists new results with a link to that official notice so you can check it at the source.

Can I apply for an offline vacancy if I missed the online form?

Only if that particular notice allows offline forms. Online recruitments do not accept paper forms after the online window closes. Look for the mode of application in the notice.

Do OBC candidates from one state get relaxation in another state's jobs?

Usually not. Most states give reservation and age relaxation only to candidates who belong to that state, and treat others as General. Central jobs use the central OBC list. Check the notice wording.

Does anyone get a sarkari naukri by paying money?

No. Selection is by exam, tests and merit lists. Anyone asking for money to get you selected is cheating you. Report such calls on the cyber crime helpline 1930.
