Apprenticeship: NAPS and the national portal

The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is run under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Government and private establishments post apprentice openings on the national portal, and you apply to them from one profile. ITI pass candidates normally train for one year in a designated trade. A monthly stipend is paid by the establishment.

  1. Open apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and create a candidate account. Use a mobile number and email you do not plan to change.
  2. Complete your profile: 10th details, ITI trade, passing year, Aadhaar and bank account.
  3. Upload your ITI mark sheet or certificate and a photo.
  4. Search openings by state, district, trade or company name, and apply.
  5. If the employer also has its own advertisement, fill that too. Many PSUs and railway units ask for both.
  6. Track shortlisting and offer letters in your portal account.

Diploma and graduate engineers follow a separate scheme, NATS, through nats.education.gov.in. If you also searched sarkari result diploma, that portal and the state technical boards are your starting points.

Apprentice jobs in Haryana and other states

State utilities and transport departments regularly take ITI apprentices. In Haryana, power companies such as HVPNL have asked candidates to apply through the national apprenticeship portal, and roadways depots have issued their own apprentice notices. So when you look for a Haryana bijli board apprentice seat or a Haryana apprentice online form, the usual path is to register on the national portal and then apply to the opening that the department lists there.

The same pattern applies in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and MP: a district or company notice, plus registration on the portal. Selection is mostly on ITI marks, sometimes combined with 10th marks. Read our Haryana jobs page for state recruiters beyond apprenticeship.

Railway apprentice and technician: how selection works

Act apprentice through RRC

Each zone's RRC publishes apprentice notices for its workshops and divisions. Selection is commonly on merit, worked out as the average of your 10th percentage and ITI marks, with no written test. Those on the merit list are called for document verification and a medical check. Notices usually ask for at least 50 percent in 10th and an NCVT or SCVT certificate; check the exact rule in your notice.

Technician and assistant loco pilot through RRB

These are regular posts. You need 10th plus ITI in the listed trade, or a completed act apprenticeship. You first clear a computer based test; shortlisted people then have their papers checked and go through a fitness exam. Loco pilot recruitment also includes a computer based aptitude test.

Trades in demand for government jobs

Some trades appear again and again in notices. If you are still choosing a trade, these give you the widest set of options:

  • Electrician and wireman: railways, power utilities, PSUs, municipal bodies.
  • Fitter: railway workshops, defence factories, steel and heavy engineering units.
  • Electronics mechanic and instrument mechanic: railways, DRDO labs, oil and gas PSUs.
  • Machinist and turner: workshops of railways and defence units.
  • Welder: railways, shipyards, construction PSUs.
  • Mechanic motor vehicle and diesel: state transport, defence vehicle depots, railways.
  • COPA and stenographer: office posts that accept ITI, and apprenticeships in offices.
  • Lineman: almost exclusively power utilities.

ITI instructor and BTSC posts

Experienced ITI holders and diploma holders can aim for instructor posts in government ITIs. In Bihar, BTSC ITI instructor vacancy notices come from the Bihar Technical Service Commission, and the BTSC ITI instructor result, marks and merit list are released on its official website. Qualification usually combines a trade or diploma with instructor training, but the exact mix differs, so follow the notice. Other states fill instructor posts through their staff selection or public service commissions.

Documents and common mistakes

  • 10th mark sheet and certificate, for date of birth
  • ITI mark sheets of all semesters or years, and the National Trade Certificate
  • Apprenticeship certificate, if completed
  • Caste, EWS or PwBD certificate where applicable
  • Medical fitness certificate if the employer asks for it at joining
  • Bank passbook in your name for the stipend
  • Applying in a trade not listed for that seat. Each opening names its trades exactly.
  • Using a provisional certificate where the notice asks for the final NTC.
  • Different name spellings in the 10th certificate and ITI papers.
  • Skipping portal registration when the notice requires both the portal and the company form.

Before you fill any ITI form remember that a sarkari result style alert only tells you a vacancy exists; the eligibility lines are in the official PDF. ITI sarkari result: where to check

An ITI sarkari result can mean two different things, and so can an ITI job sarkari result search. Your own ITI exam result and certificate come through the NCVT MIS portal or your state's SCVT. A recruitment result, such as an apprentice merit list or a technician CBT result, is published by the body that ran that recruitment, on its official website. This is also the answer for anyone searching sarkari result ITI UP: UP trainees get exam results through the NCVT or state system, while jobs in UP publish their own merit lists.

Questions people ask

Which government jobs can I get after ITI?

Common options are railway technician and assistant loco pilot, apprentice seats in railways, PSUs and power utilities, tradesman posts in defence units, and technical posts in state departments. Each notice names the trades it accepts.

ITI ke baad railway apprentice me exam hota hai?

For most RRC act apprentice notices, no. The RRC ranks applicants on the average of 10th and ITI marks, then calls those on the list for papers and a fitness check. Your zone's notice has the final word.

Is NCVT or SCVT better for government jobs?

Most central notices accept both NCVT and SCVT certificates, but some ask only for NCVT. Read the qualification line of the notice. If you hold SCVT, check whether it is accepted for that post.

Does an apprenticeship guarantee a government job?

No. An apprenticeship is training with a stipend, not a job offer. It does give you experience, and some recruitments value or reserve seats for trained apprentices, as their notices state.

How do I apply for an apprentice post in Haryana?

Register on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, complete your profile with ITI details, and apply to the opening listed by the Haryana department or company. If they also publish a separate form, fill that as well before the closing date.

Where is the BTSC ITI instructor result published?

The Bihar Technical Service Commission publishes results and merit lists on btsc.bihar.gov.in. Results we post here also show in the ITI list on this page.
