What the ctet sarkari result actually means

CTET is a pariksha (exam) of patrata (eligibility). CBSE holds it on behalf of the central government, usually more than once a year, and publishes the result on ctet.nic.in. When people search "sarkari result CTET", they want to know if they have passed and where to download the marksheet and certificate.

If you pass, you get a CTET certificate (now in digital form through DigiLocker, as the bulletin explains). With it you can apply when KVS, NVS or a state department advertises teacher posts that accept CTET. If you do not pass, there is no penalty. You can sit again in the next session, and there is no limit on attempts to improve your score.

Keep one point clear in your mind. CTET marks are not used to rank you for a job in most recruitments. The job comes from a separate exam such as KVS PRT or a state TGT test. Some states give weight to TET marks in their merit list, so read the notice of each recruitment.

Paper 1 and Paper 2: which one should you take

Each paper has 150 multiple choice questions of one mark each. There is no negative marking. The paper is in Hindi and English, and you choose two languages (Language I and Language II) from the list in the information bulletin.

Pass marks and certificate validity

To qualify you need 60 percent, that is 90 out of 150. CBSE allows reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, differently abled) a lower qualifying mark as per the rules of the recruiting body; the bulletin for each session states it. Do not rely on any number from a friend. Read the bulletin.

The CTET certificate used to be valid for seven years. NCTE changed this, and the certificate is now valid for life. Old certificates were also brought under the lifetime rule. So once you pass, you do not need to clear CTET again for eligibility. Many candidates still sit again to get a higher score, because some recruitments look at TET marks.

CTET, state TET and teacher recruitment: how they fit together

Think of it as two steps. Step one is a TET (CTET or your state's TET). Step two is the recruitment exam that actually fills posts. A tgt teacher (Trained Graduate Teacher) usually teaches middle and secondary classes (Class 6 to 10 in central schools, with the exact range set by each state); a PGT teaches Class 11 and 12. TET is usually needed for Class 1 to 8 posts. For TGT and PGT, each notice states whether a TET is needed.

In recent rounds, the common recruitment exam for KVS and NVS posts has been run by CBSE, as the recruitment notice states. Other states have their own TET and recruiting body; see your state page, such as UP jobs or Bihar jobs.

UP TGT, UP PGT and LT grade: how the exam date and result come out

UP TGT and UP PGT (often typed as uptgt) were earlier held by the Secondary Education Service Selection Board, known as UPSESSB. That work has now moved to the new commission, UPESSC. So when you look for the up tgt exam date, the up pgt exam date or the up tgt result, check the UPESSC website first. Older notices on the UPSESSB site are for past rounds.

The commission usually announces the tgt pgt exam date through a notice on its website, then releases admit cards a little before the exam. Exam dates for TGT and PGT have been changed more than once in past rounds, so do not plan only on a news report. After the exam, an answer key comes out and candidates get a few days to challenge it. Then the result and the selected list are published subject by subject.

LT grade (Licentiate Teacher grade) is a different route. It covers assistant teacher posts in UP government secondary schools and is recruited by UPPSC, not UPESSC. The lt grade result and interview or document verification lists appear on the UPPSC website.

Bihar teacher vacancy and other state routes

In Bihar, the school teacher recruitment exam (TRE) is held by BPSC for primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary posts. The notice says which posts need CTET, Bihar TET or Bihar STET. Other states such as MP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Haryana have their own TET and their own recruiting body. A primary teacher recruitment in a state normally accepts that state's TET and often CTET too, but this is decided by each notice.

For a govt teacher vacancy in central schools (KVS, NVS, army and other central schools), CTET is usually the TET that counts. If you plan to apply across states, CTET plus your home state TET keeps the most doors open.

Documents to keep ready for teacher recruitment

• Matric certificate, which proves birth date, plus the intermediate marksheet
• Graduation and post graduation marksheets, as needed for TGT or PGT
• Teacher training proof: your B.Ed or D.El.Ed marksheets and degree
• CTET or state TET certificate and marksheet
• Caste, EWS, domicile and disability certificates on the state format each advertisement specifies
• Photo ID such as Aadhaar, and recent passport size photos
